There’s just something about a good smelling home that instantly makes everything in your life feel more put together.
Scent plays a huge role in how a space feels. But, if you’ve ever been overwhelmed by a strong candle or sprayed something only to end up with a headache a few minutes later, you’re not alone.
A lot of conventional air fresheners, candles, and sprays are packed with synthetic fragrances and questionable ingredients. If you’re trying to keep things more natural and non-toxic at home, they’re not always the best choice.
The good news? There are many non-toxic ways to make your house smell good without relying on chemicals or fragrances that could disrupt your hormones.
In this post, I’m sharing some of my favorite methods for making your home smell better that are non-toxic, easy, and smell pretty darn amazing.
1. Use Primally Pure Candles
If you’re into non-toxic, clean ingredient products but haven’t heard of Primally Pure, you sure are missing out! They are one of my FAVORITE brands. I use their deodorant and it is by far the best clean deodorant brand out there.
Primally Pure is a clean beauty brand started up by Bethany McDaniel in 2015 after a personal journey to create safe and effective skincare using only truly natural ingredients.
Sweet Floral Sage Candle
This scent is great if you love florals and fresh, airy vibes.
Their products feature things like grass fed tallow, botanical oils, baking soda, rosemary extract, and vitamin E.
The most popular items are most definitely the deodorant, candles, and body butter.
Warm Citrus Spice Candle
If the smell of warm citrus mixed with spice is for you, this candle will be a beloved!
Want something a little cheaper? Try Fontana Candles..
Primally Pure will always be my number one pick and favorite, but for a more budget-friendly pick the Fontana Candles are great. They are equally as clean ingredient wise and smell amazing.
Plus, you can find these on Amazon for easier shopping.

2. Make Simmer Pots
Simmer pots are one of the easiest and most budget friendly ways to make your house smell amazing.
Plus, they’re actually kind of fun too! All you do is toss a few simple ingredients like citrus slices, herbs, or spices into a pot of water and let it gently simmer on the stove.

You can switch things up depending on the season. Things like oranges and cloves in the winter is great or lemon and rosemary in the summer is so refreshing.
Not only does your home smell incredible, but it’s also a cozy little ritual that makes your space feel extra inviting without spending too much at all.
3. Grinding Lemon Peels In Garbage Disposable
Grinding lemon peels in your garbage disposal is a quick little trick that makes a big difference.
If your kitchen is smelling a little off, just toss in a few lemon peels and run the disposal for a few seconds.
The natural oils from the peel help cut through any lingering odors and the fresh citrus scent is so clean and bright!
It’s such an easy way to refresh your kitchen without using any artificial sprays or cleaners. Plus, if you’ve already used the lemon for cooking or cleaning, you’re getting one more use out of it before tossing it.
4. Mist Non-Toxic Room Sprays
Let’s talk all things room sprays. Most room sprays are full of chemicals and artificial fragrances that can wreck havoc on your hormones and home. Say goodbye to toxic room sprays!

Sure, they are a little pricier than what you can find at the grocery or drugstore, but you don’t need to use much and it is totally worth the extra expense to use a spray without all those nasty ingredients!
5. Diffuse Essential Oils Throughout the Home
Diffusing essential oils is a great non-toxic way to make your home smell amazing without relying on synthetic fragrances (if you choose high quality essential oils).
Aromatherapy Waterless Oil Diffuser
This is the oil diffuser you want to invest in. Aromatru is a fantastic brand that makes pure, organic essential oils.
With just a few drops of oil, a diffuser can fill an entire room with scent. Plus, you can completely customize the combo of oil you diffuse to suit your preferences!

Conclusion
You don’t need harsh sprays or artificial scents to have a home that smells amazing.
With a few simple, non-toxic swaps, you can create a space that smells amazing all while being mindful of what you’re bringing into your home.
Whether it’s a seasonal simmer pot on the stove, a favorite essential oil blend in the diffuser, or just burning a candle, small things go a long way.
